Tips for making dragon puppets

Here are some tips that I use regularly on my dragons <3

  1. Try to make both sides equal from the front. This will make your dragon look better from the sides as well as the front

  2. Test your colours (on a camera if you post them) before you use them. This will ensure that they are the best colours.

  3. Make sure you stick down the sides with LOTS of glue. If you don't use enough, they will fall apart easily

  4. Use lollypop sticks to make your dragon stronger. This will make it less likely to fold.

  5. Don't draw the entire design on the base. It's best to have some features not fit the small area of the base, and gives your puppet a more interesting shape

  6. Use rings inside your dragon to make it easier to hold. It is also helpful to note down the perfect ring size so that all your rings fit well.

  7. If you want your dragon to have teeth, put a gap on the opposite base where the teeth can slot in. This will prevent your teeth from breaking.

  8. Use thick paper or card. This will prevent your dragon from folding as much or breaking. If you only have thin paper, re-enforce it with more paper

  9. Plan out a basic design/theme before you make it. This is so that it doesn't go wrong and look terrible.

  10. Spend a lot of time making sure your base is sturdy and moves well. This is especially important for if you want this dragon to be a main, since it has to be able to talk easily and not break.

  11. If you want to make a multiple jawed dragon, make the base longer.

Hope these help <3
